June 7, 2023 is World Food Safety Day and this year’s theme is “Food Standards Save Lives”. This marks the fifth year World Food Safety Day is celebrated in support of:

• Raising awareness about the importance of food safety,
• Promoting and facilitating actions to prevent foodborne diseases, and
• Strengthening global efforts for food security and safety

Talking about food safety creates awareness and provides valuable information to people around the world to protect the supply chain.  No matter who you are or what you do, you play a role in making sure food is safe!

Below are some thought starters to help you promote the importance of food safety next month or throughout the year:

• Train staff about food safety culture at work
• Host a webinar to discuss World Food Safety Day and solicit ideas from team members
• Make a video to help people understand the importance of food safety
• Create a competition or short quiz to share facts about food safety
• Host an activity, such as a run or walk to promote food safety
• No matter how big or small, celebrate all food safety achievements
