FDA has recently announced its 2026 list of priorities to help ensure food safety and support wellness through the food we consume. The three main central focus areas are food chemical safety, nutrition, and microbiological food safety. There are multiple implications to labeling accuracy and redesign heightening change management, labeling control and sound traceability recordkeeping needs. FDA will also release an updated Model Food Code in 2026, providing all levels of government with a scientifically sound technical and legal basis for regulating the retail and food service industries. This list of priorities can serve as a strategic planning checklist and insight for focusing consultant support needs.
