FDA Issues Final Rule for Traceability Records for Certain Foods

On April 10, 2023, the FDA issued the Final Rule on Requirements for Additional Traceability Records for Certain Foods, outlining recordkeeping requirements for companies who manufacture, process, pack, or hold foods on the Food Traceability List including retail food establishments and restaurants. These new requirements will enable organizations to rapidly identify and remove contaminated food from the market, to protect public health, resulting in fewer foodborne illnesses.  This rule aligns with industry best practices and applies to domestic and foreign firms producing food for consumption in the United States.
